IP Is Personal

EU Official: IP Is Personal

IP addresses, string of numbers that identify computers on the Internet, should generally be regarded as personal information, the head of the European Union’s group of data privacy regulators said Monday.

This seems like a decent opinion to me. The question is: Will it have any impact?

Blu-ray In The News Again

After the recent news that Warner stopped supporting HD DVD (Warner backs Sony Blu-ray format), it looks a lot like Blu-ray is ahead in the race to being THE HD format.
So far, I have no clue what format is going to win out in the end, and especially what format would be good for customers. I guess Blu-ray has a head start because it is supported by default in the PS3, but players are still very expensive and it looks like current players are not ageing well:

Blu-ray future limited for some

Owners of Blu-ray DVD players may find themselves frozen out of future developments in the technology because their machines are not upgradeable. The Blu-ray camp has recently rolled out new features for players, which include picture in picture options. But the majority of Blu-ray players sold to date do not have the necessary hardware to offer the features.

Berlitz: Misunderstood Lyrics

Berlitz has a hilarious ad campaign based around misunderstood lyrics. I’m not convinced it’s effective, though, because I think you need to have a fairly solid grasp of English to get the ads.

Monolith

LaCie’s got a new external hard drive that, thanks to its mirror finish, looks like the monolith from 2001. It’s the sexiest external hard drive I’ve ever seen.

Canal+: Brokeback Mountain

Here’s a commercial for Canal+ (a French movie channel) where one friend describes Brokeback Mountain to the other. Hilarity ensues.

Bored With Pre-flight Announcements?

Well, most of those pre-flight announcements are really boring. I commend this one!

Pre-Flight Announcements Get Fashionable

Already you look beautifully fashionable! However to extenuate your waste wrap that black strap around it…

SnūzNLūz

ThinkGeek has an awesome new alarm clock called the SnūzNLūz that donates money to an organization you hate every time you hit the snooze button:

The SnÅ«zNLÅ«z uses the very complex psychological phenomemon known as ‘HATRED’. Basically it’s human nature to wish harm upon your enemies. Similarly, it’s human nature not to give your enemies gobs of cash so that they can grow big and dominate the world with their totally wrong, stupid and invalid point of view. ThinkGeek realized that. That’s why everytime you hit the snooze button, the SnÅ«zNLÅ«z will donate a specified amount of your real money to a non-profit you hate. The problem of sleeping in is solved.
