Intel Macs to Boot Windows, Fo’ Realz
Sweet Jebus, Apple is distributing software that lets you boot Windows on your Intel Mac. It’s called Boot Camp, and it might just make Macs a lot more appealing than they already are.
It requires:
- Mac OS X Tiger v10.4.6 (check Software Update)
- The latest Firmware update (check Support Downloads)
- 10GB free hard disk space
- An Intel-based Mac
- A blank recordable CD
- A printer for the instructions (You’ll want to print them before installing Windows, really.)
- A bona fide installation disc for Microsoft Windows XP, Service Pack 2, Home or Professional (No multi-disc, upgrade or Media Centre versions.)
It’s a public beta right now, but apparently will be built into OS X 10.5. Yay!?
Update: If you’re brave enough to try Boot Camp, you might want to check out the Boot Camp FAQ.

I was going to write something about how April Fools day rarely works on the internet but Anil Dash already did:
Hey, there! I’m your friend, so I didn’t want to be the one to tell you. But someone had to: Your April Fool’s Day joke sucks.
Really, it does. April Fool’s works really well if you’re either genuinely funny or if you make something that’s plausible enough to actually trick someone for a while. “Just do something stupid” need not apply. And it’s especially hard to be appropriately clever on the web.
No foolin’.
In other news, we’ve won a Peabody award. Yeah, that’s it. A Peabody award.
