New 20 Inch iMac, Dual 1.8Ghz G5

Apple today released two new desktop computers and updates to their pro software titles.

20 Inch iMac

First up, the iMac line has a new high end with a 20 inch, 1680×1050 pixel screen. The new model sports a 1.25 Ghz G4 processor, 256 MB of DDR333 RAM, an 80 GB Hard Drive, a 4x SuperDrive and nVidia GeForce FX 5200 Graphics (64MB). The new model comes in at $2199 USD, and the existing 17 inch and 15 inch models are now $1799 USD and $1299 USD respectively.

Dual 1.8 Ghz G5

Second, the PowerMac G5 line has been refined slightly, replacing the single 1.8 Ghz G5 with a dual 1.8 Ghz G5. The new model includes 512 MB of DDR400 RAM, a 160 GB Hard Drive, SuperDrive, PCI-X expansion slots, and a nVidia GeForce FX 5200 Ultra graphics card with 64 MB of video RAM. The dual 1.8 Ghz G5 is priced at $2499 USD and the single 1.6 Ghz has dropped to $1799 USD from its initial price of $1999 USD.

Pro Software

Apple also released G5 optimised versions of some of their professional software products today; Final Cut Pro 4.1, Shake 3.0.1 and DVD Studio Pro 2.0.2 with Compressor 1.1 are immediately available as free updates from Apple.com/software/pro.
